Research of the group is directed to modelling and analysis of structures and materials and to related numerical solution procedures.
Research focus and goals
In the materials modelling, a special emphasis is given to modelling the fracturing processes of quasi-brittle materials like rock and concrete as well as to modelling ductile behaviour of metals and polymers. Closely related to the focus of materials modelling is the development of fatigue analysis methods for metals and polymers as well as modelling multi-physical phenomena, e.g. magneto-electro-mechanics.
In developing numerical solution algorithms, activities of the group are directed to finite element methods and time integration methods needed in material models. In addition, solution algorithms for structural stability analysis have been developed.
