This research project produces new knowledge on the factors of sustainable municipal economy, from the perspectives of financial planning and knowledge management.
The goals of economic, social and environmental sustainability have been the subject of public and scientific debates for decades, but in practice it remains unclear what sustainable actions mean and require. Consequently, the implementation of sustainability is a question of management, that is, how an abstract phenomenon transforms into actions, practices, resources and structures.
Here, the focus of the research is on the creation and utilization of the sustainability information in the municipal financial management. The project explores the views of municipal managers on the information required and used for sustainable choices — now and in the future.
The research project is funded by Kunnallisalan kehittämissäätiö (Foundation for Municipal Development) and Dr. Lotta-Maria Sinervo acts as the principal investigator of the project. The project collaborates with professor Harri Laihonen, University of Eastern Finland. T
