VAM Realities - University Business Cooperation for Promoting Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality Applications within Small and Medium-sized Manufacturing Companies

VAM Realities - The Erasmus+ funded VAM Realities research project studies the adoption and use of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) technologies in European manufacturing SMEs. The project also aims to advance cooperation between universities and SMEs around these technologies. The project started at the beginning of 2020 and will run until the end of 2022.

Goal

The main outputs of the project will be a survey report detailing SMEs’ Awareness, Demands, Skills Gaps and Training Needs with regard to VR/AR/MR business solutions, a state-of-the-art technology report, an expert panel and network, a handbook on promoting cooperation between SMEs and universities in VR/AR/MR activities, a Skills Gap Detector (for SMEs), and a Training Gap Detector (for universities). During the remaining half of the project, interested SMEs can take part in piloting activities and receive consultation from the project on the adoption and use of VR/AR/MR solutions.

Tampere University acted as a work package leader in the creation of the survey report. The report was published at the beginning of 2021 and is available for download from the project website.
