The project explores how voting advice applications (VAA) are used in Finnish elections. This will be studied from the point of view of the users (voters and candidates) as well as producers (media companies, other organizations) of these applications.
Background
COMET conducts the project together with the Faculty of Management at the University of Tampere. COMET analyzes VAAs from the point of view of their production and journalistic use. The Faculty of Management explores how the voters and candidates use VAAs and what they think about them. The research report covering both research areas will be published in 2019.
Goal
The project produces results that support the development of voting advice applications. In addition, the results are useful in public discussion about the amount, quality, and different uses of VAAs.
