How to apply an internship abroad

Compulsory practical training is an important part of bachelor’s degrees. Its extent is 30-120 credits depending on the degree programme and specialisation. The practical training aims at familiarising students with their professional field and giving them the opportunity to apply the learnt in practice.

The practical training or a part of it can also be completed abroad. Especially if you aim at an international career, you get off to a good start by completing your practical training abroad. Even people who want to build their actual career in Finland benefit from a study-related, fixed-term training period in another country: work experience abroad is a good addition in curriculum vitae and may sometimes even be a necessity for getting the job.

As a rule, students acquire their training places by themselves. Available training places can be found in the tamk.jobteaser.com service. Training coordinators and the International Services help students in getting started if necessary. Outgoing trainees can apply for a training grant from TAMK.

A trilateral agreement (student, TAMK and training place) is made on all trainings abroad. More detailed instructions and forms can be found in intranet.

Practical training after graduation

If you do not have a job upon graduation, you can use the time for developing your professional skills by completing a training period in Europe. According to the rules of the European Commission’s new Erasmus + programme, you have a 12-month quota at each degree level. It may include a training period after graduation. Outgoing trainees can apply for a training grant from TAMK.

The training agreement has to be made between the enterprise, graduating student and TAMK before graduation (signature dates). More detailed instructions and forms can be found in intranet.
