TAMK Student's Handbook

Study ability support and counselling

Student, do you feel that your study ability has diminished? Is studying a struggle? Are you worried about your well-being or the future?

The term study ability refers to a student's capacity to study, which consists of many different components. Personal resources, study skills, teaching, guidance, and support from the learning environment significantly affect one's ability to study. Personal strengths in one or more areas can help maintain learning ability even when there are challenges in another area. (Read more about learning ability and how to maintain it here.)

TAMK's Study counseling services support students' study ability

Although higher education requires a lot self management no one has to manage alone at all times; it's advisable to seek help with a low threshold. TAMK's study counselor supports students in strengthening their study ability and progressing in their studies. Together with the study counselor, you can formulate a plan on how to maintain and improve one's learning capacity. Conversations with the study counselor are always confidential.

You can turn to TAMK's study counselor when you want to discuss topics related to learning ability, such as:
  • Personal resources and challenging life situations
  • Study skills and learning difficulties
  • Time and everyday management skills
  • Stress management and motivation issues
  • Assessment of support needs and further guidance
Together, we can map out your support and guidance needs and find ways to develop and strengthen your study ability.
