If you live in Finland, these study options are for you. You can complete a degree or individual courses at higher education institutions. The picture above presents the different study possibilities. Its contents are explained below in more detail.
You want to complete a higher education degree
You can apply to a university or university of applied sciences to complete a degree in two ways:
- Apply to a higher education degree programme in the joint application: Joint application takes place at the Studyinfo.fi service both in the spring and autumn. You can apply if you have a suitable prior education, such as a general upper secondary education or an upper secondary vocational education. You can also apply if you have a foreign degree which qualifies you for higher education studies in the country where it was obtained. Joint application is the most common way of applying for higher education studies.
- Apply to a higher education degree programme through open UAS or open university studies: First decide what degree you want to study. Then complete the open university route or open UAS path studies. After finishing the studies, you can apply for a study place at Studyinfo.fi service during the application period. You can complete the route or path studies even if you do not have a prior general upper secondary education or upper secondary vocational education. The route and path studies are subject to a fee.
Do you want to complete higher education studies but you do not need a degree? You can take individual courses at an open UAS or open university. The courses are subject to a fee. You can develop your knowledge and skills even if you cannot complete an entire degree there.
