Participation in class (at least 75% or lectures), completing exercises and laboratory exercises, and passing in-class tests and the final exam. |
Learning Outcomes
The course aims to teach participants the fundamentals of organic and printed electronics, i.e. is distinct from seminar courses that focus on current research topics. Key topics include the fundamental chemistry and physics or organic electronic materials, key devices (OLEDs, OPV, diodes, transistors, power storage), key fabrication processes (printing, patterning, coating) as well as special aspects of organic electronic circuits, systems and applications. Key learning outcome is that participants should have a sufficiuent grasp of the field to either begin own research or read current literature with critical understanding.
Content
Content | Core content | Complementary knowledge | Specialist knowledge |
1. | Energy levels and charge carriers, printing technologies basics, fundamentals of OLEDs, OPV, Diodes, transistors and power storage | Deeper understanding of physical basis of device operation and application requirements, charge transport | Detailed understanding of models such as energy disorder model of charge transport, levelling models for printed films, non-ideal efrfect in OTFTs |
Instructions for students on how to achieve the learning outcomes
The most important way to achieve the outcomes is to attend the lectures and exercise/discussion sessions regularly and to prepare well for and carry out the laboratory exercises.Students are expected to attend at least 75% of the lectures. If more than these are missed for unavoidable reasons, extra work will need to be done to make this us. However, after each section there will be in-class tests that will be a significant part of the course grade, and students need to be in the class for these tests.
