Description
The course aims at introducing the basic physics governing the properties of optoelectronics heterostructures. The emphasis is put on understanding the connection between the structure and composition of the most important types of inorganic crystals (i.e. III-V alloys, Si, Ge), and their features describing carrier transport, absorption, and the radiative/non-radiative recombination processes. The physics governing the operation of junctions and quantum effects, which are the key building-blocks for optoelectronic devices, are introduced.
