Additional information

Suitable for postgraduate studies.

Person responsible

Mari Honkanen, Essi Sarlin, Minnamari Vippola

Learning Outcomes

After completing the course the student knows,is able to classify and can explain the principles of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) including operation, image and contrast formation, electron diffraction and microanalysis as well as the principles of X-ray diffraction (XRD, SAXS and WAXS) methods including operation and data analysis.principles of various analysis methods suitable for material performance evaluation. The student can apply this information in practical exercises which include e.g. demonstrations. The student is able to understand and apply suitable specimen preparation techniques and to identify special analysis techniques.
