Learning Outcomes
This course provides a perspective on the discipline of Digital Manufacturing, with the central focus on the integrated design and modelling of manufacturing systems considering various sources of information on product and manufacturing processes. The emphasis is given to production and test of machines programs for machining and additive manufacturing using CAD/CAM software. The course provides a survival kit and the corresponding references in manufacturing in order to support the choices to be made during the use of CAD/CAM software. At the end of the course, students should be able to process a CAD file of a part in order to develop and validate the manufacturing program allowing the manufacturing of the part. Students should be able to design a product using a right CAD tool and decide on how to manufacture it with the support of digital tools and services. Digital manufacturing systems integrate advanced 3D modelling and simulation tools enabling collaborative product and process design. After completing this course, student understands the key principles and tools supporting the digital manufacturing process.
