When the course is over-subscribed, i.e., when more students register than can be admitted to the course, students are enrolled according to the target groups and the time of their registration. Students on the sign-up and waiting list must attend the first class meeting to secure a place on the course.

Requirements

- 80% attendance - participation in class discussion, reading, study, and short presentations of materials related to genres, mechanics, stylistics etc. - reading and evaluation of other students' work - for the final review, students are to submit a portfolio of 7-10 pieces of their creative work, the number of submissions depending on their length.

Learning Outcomes

After the course, students - have an understanding, through their reading and writing, of some techniques of literary expression, genres, and aesthetics - have by writing and rewriting of their own work and via peer reviews developed and improved their self-awareness, critical acumen, and the technical and expressive skills of their writing - are in general capable of generating and articulating ideas and themes in a contained creative form

Instructions for students on how to achieve the learning outcomes

Student work is evaluated on a pass/fail basis. For a pass, students should be active in research and presentation of topics in genres, stylistics etc, submit weekly new or reworked input for peer review, and participate actively in review and discussion of other students' work. The final portfolio should show evidence of improved sense of stylictics, mechanics, literary appeal and expression.

Evaluation scale passed/failed will be used on the course

Additional information about prerequisites
This course is intended for students who have already passed their basic English requirements, Spoken Communication (KIE-32006, KIE-32066, KIE-32056, or KIE-32026) and Written Communication (KIE-33006) or English for Architects (KIE-32106).
