Learning Outcomes

Digital manufacturing systems integrate advanced 3D modelling and simulation tools enabling collaborative product and process design. After completing this course, student understands the principles of digital manufacturing process. Student can use this knowledge when designing products and/or manufacturing processes. Student can create basic CAD-models and understands how different features can be utilized during product lifetime. Student understands the concept of 3-D simulation and off-line programming of production machines and can evaluate the usability of these methods in production

1. Digital manufacturing process overview.  Advantages of using digital environment in production planning.  Ability to utilize digital manufacturing tools. 
2. Modelling basic static 3-D components of manufacturing systems.   Modelling of functional 3-D production systems.  Production system analysis based on simulation models. 
3. Creating simple tool path (CAM) for NC machine and Co-ordinate measuring machine using CAD-model and off-line programming.  Knowledge of several cutting and measuring parameters.   Ability to understand how the CAD model and the production environment can operate together.
