Study Guide 2015-2016

SGN-82006 Special Topics in Signal Processing, 1-5 cr

Additional information

Basically the idea of this courser is the following: -the student is interested in some special area of signal processing -the student finds a book or other M.Sc. or higher level material about the topic -the student proposes the book/other material as the educational material to one of the teachers mentioned as the responsible for the course -the teacher checks the material and if it is acceptable, determines the amount of credits the material would be worth -if the student accepts this amount of credits, he can begin to study the material -the teacher and the student agree whether there is going to be an exam or the student writes a summary of the material according to the instructions of the teacher -after having passed the exam or having delivered the summary in an acceptable form to the teacher, the student gets the credits of the course So, this is a possibility for the students to choose some material for their M.Sc. degree rather freely thinking by oneself what might be most relevant for oneself in his professional career. When choosing the teacher, it is useful to check the teacher's web page in order to determine who might be the best expert for the material the student is interested in.

Prerequisites

Course Mandatory/Advisable Description
SGN-11000 Signaalinkäsittelyn perusteet Mandatory   1
SGN-11006 Basic Course in Signal Processing Mandatory   1
SGN-21006 Advanced Signal Processing Mandatory   1

1 . At least one of the prerequisite courses must be passed before this course. Students who have a B.Sc. degree from another university can fulfill this requirement also by having passed a basic signal processing course in that university. Opintojaksoista on suoritettava yksi. Muilla kuin TTY:llä kandidaatin tutkinnon suorittaneilla tulee vaihtoehtoisesti olla suoritettuna jonkinlainen signaalinkäsittelyn peruskurssi.
