We provide IT services for researchers in the Tampere Universities community spanning the entire life cycle of studies. In many respects, the general information management services are suitable tools for researchers, but services and capacity have also been acquired specifically to support research.

Solution consulting

Solution consulting is intended especially for situations when there are no suitable ready-made solutions among the services offered in the Universities community. Contact our research IT experts (it-helpdesk [at] tuni.fi (it-helpdesk[at]tuni[dot]fi)) and let’s see together how we can advance the matter (e.g., as an IT customer need). Our experts are also happy to participate in discussions where longer-term technology choices and investments are considered, as well as solving everyday practical situations. Digitalization is also supported by the Digital Office.

Artificial Intelligence in Research

The use of AI solutions is a particularly interesting phenomenon at the moment. There is a section related to the topic in Intranet: Artificial Intelligence (tuni.fi). In terms of research, the possible solution models vary depending on whether the intention is to use AI-based solutions as a research tool in a more traditional style (ML, neural networks) or to utilize, for example, LLM-based AI chat in normal everyday tasks as a kind of AI assistant. There is also a lot of talk about the possibilities of generative AI.

There are currently many solutions on the market that are often still in the development stage, making it difficult to acquire them securely and in compliance with licensing terms. For this reason, we primarily recommend using solutions offered by Tampere Universities, which can be found here: Copilot (tuni.fi).
