Implementation of Mobile Device Management and Multifactor Authentication on Your Personal Mobile Device

You need Mobile Device Management (Microsoft Intune) to access Tuni’s network and services from your device, such as Wi-Fi and email. The Microsoft Authenticator app is required for multifactor authentication when using Tuni resources.

When you implement mobile device management, the current apps and data on your phone will remain unchanged. If you fail to install Intune, you can uninstall it according to the last section of this guide and then start over.

Installing and Setting Up Mobile Device Management

Please note that only one mobile device management system can be installed on a device at a time. Setting up the mobile device management used by TUNI may require the removal of previous mobile device management systems, which could affect the use of third-party resources.

If the Company Portal app is already installed on your phone, remove it.

Android

  1. Install the Intune Company Portal from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (Apple) and complete its installation.

  1. Sign in with your TUNI email address and password.

  1. Select Get Started.

  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.

  1. On Samsung phones, you can find the app list by swiping up on the home screen. Tap Personal or Work at the bottom to switch between personal and work profiles.

Apple (iOS, iPadOS)

  1. Ensure the Authenticator app is not installed. If necessary, transfer its identifiers to another device and remove the app. During setup, you will need a working Authenticator installation on another device to complete the setup.

  1. Open Settings -> General -> VPN & Device Management -> Sign In to Work or School Account.

  1. Sign in with your TUNI email address and password in two consecutive windows.

  1. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.

  2. Install the Microsoft Authenticator app from the App Store but don't open it after installation.

  3. Open the Company Portal app on your phone's home screen and sign in with your TUNI email address and password.

Setting Up the Microsoft Authenticator App

The Microsoft Authenticator app is necessary for two-factor authentication with your TUNI account.

  1. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app (on Android phones, from the work profile). During the mobile device management setup, wait a moment for the work apps to install on your device.

  1. Accept the terms of use.

  1. Select Add work or school account

  1. Select Scan QR code

  1. Grant the app permission to use the phone's camera if prompted, so it can read QR codes.

  1. The app will now wait for a QR code to link your TUNI account and the phone's authentication app.

Linking Your TUNI Account and Phone Authentication App

  1. Open a browser on your computer and go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup (start a VPN connection if working remotely). Authenticate using the Authenticator app on your old device if necessary.

  1. Sign in using your TUNI email address and password.

If your account is new:

  1. The browser will prompt you to set up additional information. Select Next

  1. Select Authenticator app and Add

If your account is old:

  1. Select "+ Add sign-in method.

  1. Select Authenticator app and Add

  1. Proceed in the browser by clicking the Next button until a QR code appears.

  1. Use the QR code reader in the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone to scan the QR code displayed in the browser.

  1. After the Microsoft Authenticator app reads the QR code, click the Next button in the browser.

  1. Approve the test authentication request on your phone.

  1. Proceed in the browser by clicking the Next button.

  1. Click the Done button in the browser.

  1. The linking of your TUNI account and phone app is now complete.

Removing Mobile Device Management

If necessary, you can remove Intune mobile device management from your phone as follows:

  1. Launch the Company Portal app.

  1. Open the menu in the top left corner and tap Remove Company Portal. Confirm.

  1. The work profile, along with all its apps and data, will be removed from your phone. The personal profile will remain unchanged.
