Samsung work phone

Tampere University and TAMK

Setting Up Samsung Phone

During the setup process, your phone will need an internet connection. We recommend starting the installation using mobile data because logging into TUNI networks is not possible at this stage.

During setup, Microsoft Intune mobile device management will be installed on your device, creating separate personal and work profiles. Only work profile apps will have access to the TUNI network.

When setting up a new phone, keep your old phone with you until everything you need is fully functional on the new phone.

  • Start by inserting the SIM card into the phone, turn on the phone, and enter the SIM card PIN code.

  • After the phone starts up, continue by following the on-screen instructions.

  • When the phone prompts for sign-in, use your TUNI email address and password.

  • In the Your work checklist section, select Install work apps.

  • Once the mandatory apps are installed, choose Done, then Register your device and Sign in

  • Continue following the on-screen instructions.

Adding a Google Account

Adding a Google Account - Add a personal account?

  • If you prefer, you can use your existing Gmail address or create a new Google account, such as firstname.lastname.tuni [at] gmail.com.

  • Continue by following the on-screen instructions.

  • In the Protect your phone section, select PIN.

  •  Set a PIN code for your phone with at least a 6-digit numeric sequence (avoid consecutive numbers, e.g., 123456).

NOTE: Remember your new PIN carefully! If you forget it, you’ll lose all data on your phone.

  • Continue following the on-screen instructions.

Setting up Microsoft Authenticator app

Next set up the Microsoft Authenticator app, which is necessary for enabling multifactor authentication for your TUNI account.

  • Open the Authenticator app from your phone’s work profile.

  • Select Add a work or school account

  • Choose Scan QR code

  • If prompted, grant the app permission to use your phone’s camera so it can read QR codes.

  • The app will now wait for the QR code that will link your TUNI account and the app on your phone.

Connecting Your TUNI Account and the Microsoft Authenticator App

  • Open a web browser on your computer and go to this address: https://aka.ms/mfasetup (if working remotely, establish a VPN connection). If needed, authenticate using the Authenticator app on your old device.

  • Sign in using your TUNI email address and password.

If your account is new:

  • The browser will prompt you to set up additional information. Click Next

  • Select Authenticator app and click Add

If your account is old:

  • Click + Add method

  • Choose Authenticator application and click Add

  • Proceed in the browser by clicking the Next button until you see the QR code.

  • Now take your phone and use the Microsoft Authenticator app to scan the QR code displayed in your computer’s browser.

  • Once the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone reads the QR code, you can click Next in the browser.

  • You’ll receive a test authentication approval request on your phone; make sure to Accept it.

  • Continue in the browser by clicking Next

  • Finally, click Done in the browser.

The connection between your TUNI account and the phone´s authentication app on your phone is now complete.
