To help you get a smooth start to your studies in autumn 2024, we have compiled the most important information for you on these pages. Please read through the information carefully and follow each step.

Remember to take care of these to prepare for arrival in Tampere
- Accept your study place by the given deadline.
If accepted conditionally, remember to deliver the educational documents to fulfil the conditional acceptance conditions. - Read through the information on fees and scholarships if applicable
- Arrange for your health insurance and a travel insurance
- Apply for a residence permit if you need one. It is important to start the process immediately after you have been accepted to the University.
- Reserve accommodation
- Download the Tampere University degree students' Goin' app.
- Familiarise yourself with the Welcome Week programme and your programme curriculum
- Read about the study culture in Finland and the practicalities of your studies at Tampere University and the study guidance available to help you start your studies

Starting your studies
Once you arrive in Tampere, it is time to officially register as a student at Tampere University and prepare to start your studies. We have listed here the main things you need to take care of to get started successfully. Remember that your student tutors will be happy to help you even before you get here.
- Pay the Student Union membership fee and register as a student
- Learn about our IT services and get your TUNI user account from the IT Helpdesk
- Apply for a student card
- Take part in the Welcome Week
- Familiarise yourself with the programme curriculum and teaching timetables for autumn 2024 and sign up for first period courses
- Complete your registration with the local authority, Digital and Population Data Services Agency
- Check out information on student health care and pay the student healthcare fee.
- Read about the study culture in Finland and about different practicalities related to your studies at Tampere Universities and familiarise yourself with the Tampere University Student's Guide.
