For example, studying intermediate studies may require some completed basic studies. These are described on the Information about studies tab of the study unit under prior requirements.</p><p>When you have been admitted to the studies, you must enrol separately via the Sisu information system for the implementation of the unit of study and, for example if set, for a practise group of your choice. You will receive instructions on how to do this by e-mail after you have confirmed your acceptance of the study place by paying the required fee.</p>

Physiolgocal signals generated by the body <br>functions.</li><li>Physical interaction mechanisms of image formation in medical imaging methods. Principles of biomedical imaging systems.</li></ul><h5>Complementary knowledge</h5><ul><li>Future trends in BME research and industry. Health technology <br>industry and biomedical engineering research in Tampere and Finland. </li><li>Mathematical models related to the phenomena.<br>Methods to study the phenomena.<br>Clinical applications in diagnosis and therapy.</li><li>Special and hybrid imaging methods. </li></ul>

<p>On completion the course, the student:<br></p><ul><li>can describe main research and development topics of BME, </li><li>can<br> analyze bioelectrical, biomechanical, and biooptical phenomena of &nbsp; the<br> human body quantitatively and by applying modelling principles, </li><li>can describe the homeostatic regulation of the body by means of control theory, </li><li>can<br> describe how the body is interacting with several types of applied &nbsp; <br>external energies and how these interactions can be utilized in &nbsp;medical<br> &nbsp;diagnostics and therapy, </li><li>can describe the basic principles of x-ray, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and magnetic resonance imaging, </li><li>can describe common physiological signals and how they can be recorded.</li></ul>

<h2>Prerequisites</h2><p>Recommended prerequisites include basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
