Open University Route Studies

Application period for Master's route studies in the academic year 2024-2025 begins on 27 June 2024 at 10.00 (UTC+2) and ends 10 July 2024 at 23.59 (UTC+2). Applicants graduating during the academic year 2024–2025 can also be accepted for the Open University Master's route. The eligibility of an unfinished bachelor degree is evaluated based on the transcript of records submitted when applying for the route studies. You will need to provide the latest official transcript of records, listing all the courses you have completed at the time of applying. Admission is conditional, if an applicant who has been accepted for the master's route with an incomplete degree is selected as a degree student. You can search the Open University Route in the Admissions service from Search studies -section choosing from the Course name filter: Open University Route, Environmental Engineering, MSc All applicants must include the following attachments with their application form:<ol><li>Certified copy of the original bachelor's degree certificate and its English translation</li><li>Certified copy of the original transcript of records (includes the scope and grades of courses studied for the degree) and its English translation</li></ol><ul><li>Degree completed in Finland: If you have completed your degree in a university of applied sciences (AMK) or a university in Finland you do not need to certify the copies of educational documents.</li><li>Degree completed outside Finland: The educational documents need to be translated either by the awarding institution or an official translator. The copies of the degree certificate, transcript of records and their translations into English must be officially certified<ul><li>by a Finnish notary public. Officially certified copies issued by a Finnish Notary Public are accepted. In order for a student holding a master’s degree to be admitted as a student through an Open University Route, you must submit a Statement of Purpose at the application phase and explain how the degree would produce new competence for you. The form of the motivation letter is free. Students on the MSc route can apply for the right to study in the degree programme their route studies have followed. MSc route students can apply for degree studies in the spring 2025 on Studyinfo.fi: <a href="http://www.studyinfo.fi">www.studyinfo.fi</a>. In the academic year 2024–2025, the study attainments of students on the MSc route must be visible in the student register on 16 June 2025 in order to be taken into account. A student may be admitted for degree studies after completing the route studies in the required schedule (within an academic year) and according to the requirements of the degree programmes.Students on the Open University route may be admitted as degree students, if they do not already have the right to study in a degree programme in engineering sciences in Tampere University. A previously completed master’s degree does not make applicants ineligible for admission, but applicants will only be admitted to study for a second master’s degree for particularly weighty reasons. Read more from the How to apply -section. When granting the right to a degree, the Degree Regulations of Tampere University and the university's common admission criteria are followed.

Applicants must prove their eligibility and send in their degree certificate with necessary attachments as they apply for route studies (read more on the How to apply or register tab). The faculty checks that these preceding studies are acceptable before students are admitted for the route studies.Prior education: Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Science, or equivalent university degree. Related fields of study of the Bachelor’s degree: The degree has to be in one of the following (or highly related) fields: environmental engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering.

Studies on the Open University route are conducted mainly during the day&nbsp;as a contact teaching.
