Part of the course is to participate in all the joint educational events and other sessions, together with the mid-term and final critics. To complete the course, student must submit approved final group work and individual design projects on time.

Assessment criteria: Work in progress and final outcomes are assessed through interim and final evaluations. Special emphasis is given to the evolution of the research and design processes. Active participation in group work, tutorials and reviews is required. The entirety of the approach is more important than the perfection of details.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the course student is able to: -expand and integrate public building and housing design skills at the conceptual and strategic level, taking into account environmental, social, cultural and functional contexts and the relationship to the city-scape -get acquainted with basic (scientific) research methods and be able to employ and develop these methods to their own site research/ group work -analyze, critically identify and synthesize the social, cultural, environmental and economic implications of a wider context and the city-scape -identify a strategic briefing process and to develop a strategic brief and to address the topics included, such as responding to different stakeholders' needs, in one's own work -create and develop an innovative area plan that responds to the social, cultural, environmental and economic implications of a wider context and the city-scape -explore, create and critically justify a concept and preliminary functional brief for experimental design that responds to current and future societal and contextual challenges -use and develop contextual parameters as a generator of a design vision and design concept and approach, and to verbally and visually communicate this -evaluate and develop the project's artistic entities and qualities and to critically identify and position and justify oneself in relation to the social, cultural, material, environmental and economic implications of architectural design in one's own area plan
