Learning Outcomes

After the course student has a basic knowledge about the elasticity theory and plasticity and how they are applied for soil modeling. Student is able to conduct independently versatile calculation analysis with finite element program Plaxis 2D, to conduct deformation analysis as a function of time, to conduct safety/ULS analysis to analyze the results obtained.

Content

Content Core content Complementary knowledge Specialist knowledge
1. The basics of soil modeling, linear elasticity, linear-perfectly plastic models, hardening models.
2. Designing earth and foundation structures using the finite element program. Use of FEM program Plaxis 2D.
3. Master the typical design cases related to excavations, foundations, road and railway construction. SLS and ULS analyses of these structures.
