ABB Oy donates €270,000 to Tampere University
“With our donation, we want to support world-class research and product development as well as the development of education in Finland,” says Matti Kauhanen, Technology Manager at ABB Drives.
ABB is one of Finland’s biggest investors in research and product development. It has a long history of co-operation with universities.
According to Provost Jarmo Takala, ABB and Tampere University have engaged in long-term and active co-operation. Their joint mission is to build a sustainable world and promote the green transition.
“The energy transition is opening up many new opportunities for international cooperation that supports sustainable development and creates excellence in Finland,” says Takala who expressed his heartfelt thanks for the important €270,000 donation to research and education at Tampere University.
“The development of our cutting-edge technologies is based on close cooperation with universities and educational institutions, and on a culture of continuous learning. The world is undergoing major changes, which makes capacity building a priority. High-quality research and the top talents of the future will continue to support Finland’s competitiveness,” says Pekka Tiitinen, Managing Director of ABB Finland.
The Finnish universities’ matched fund-raising scheme will continue until the end of June. Every euro donated during the campaign may generate up to €2.5 in matched funding for the University.
