Scholarships for students

Both Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences offer a number of scholarships for fee-paying students in order to provide excellent international students with high-quality, yet affordable, education. Applicants who have received a scholarship on admission have received information on the scholarship at the same time with the admissions decision. Congratulations!

Tampere university

Tampere University seeks to recognise high-achieving, motivated students. The Tampere University Scholarships Programme is intended for fee-paying students who are required to pay tuition fees in Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes offered in English. Scholarships are merit-based and have been awarded at admission to the most successful applicants.

At admission 2024, the following scholarships are awarded:

  • at admission to Master's programmes, Finland Scholarships, which consist of a 5000 euro relocation grant and cover 100 % of the tuition fees during the two-year Master’s programme
  • at admission to Bachelor's and Master's programmes, Tampere University tuition fee scholarships which cover 100% of the tuition fees in a three-year Bachelor’s or a two-year Master’s degree programme or both if the study right granted leads from Bachelor’s degree to a Master’s degree.

All fee-paying students are eligible to apply for Tampere University scholarships also after the first year of studies. You will find information on scholarships available during studies on our Student's Guide.

Accepting the scholarship

If you have been awarded a scholarship at admission, you have received information on your scholarship in conjunction with your letter of acceptance. Attached in the same email, you will also find the detailed terms and conditions of your scholarship. Congratulations to all new scholarship recipients!

Please note that in order to enjoy your scholarship, you must accept your study place by the given deadline. By accepting your study place, you automatically accept also the scholarship. You will find instructions for accepting your study place on the page Accept your study place

For applicants accepted to Master's programmes, the deadline for accepting the study place and scholarship is on 30 April 2024.

If you have been accepted to a Bachelor's programme, the deadline for accepting your scholarship will be later and depend on when you have been accepted as a student. Please check for your specific deadline in the scholarship letter you have received with your letter of acceptance.

If you fail to accept your study place and scholarship by the given deadline, you will lose your scholarship. However, it is still possible for you to accept your study place by 11 July 2024 at 3 pm (UTC +3) and start your studies by paying the full tuition fee.

In addition to accepting your study place, you must also confirm that you understand and agree with the scholarship conditions via an online form. You will find the relevant link in the scholarship letter included in your acceptance email. Please submit your confirmation before the deadline mentioned in your scholarship letter.

All scholarships are awarded and informed about at the same time with the admissions decision and there is no waiting list for scholarships.

If you have been awarded the Finland Scholarship, your scholarship includes a 5000 € relocation grant in addition to the tuition fee scholarship. The grant will be paid to you in a single payment after you have arrived in Tampere and started your studies at Tampere University. The grant will be paid to a Finnish bank account during the autumn semester 2024. Once you arrive in Tampere, please make arrangements to acquire a Finnish bank account as soon as possible, the process may take some time. Please deliver your bank account information to the Student Affairs Office as soon as it is available using a form which you will receive by email in July. It is advisable to have other funds available for your expenses at the start of your studies as the payment process (including getting the bank account) may take a number of weeks after arrival.
