This module consists of optional studies related to education, internationality and multiculturalism awarded by the exchange university. To transfer credits, please contact the person in charge in study administration.
Student can also get 3 ECTS by writing a written report/essay of a student exchange where he/she discusses, comments and critically reflects the contents of given topics. More detailed information about a written assignment will be given by the examiner Toni Saarivirta, toni.saarivirta@uta.fi.
Upon completion of the course students gain practical experiences of working in multicultural and international environments.
The number of ECTS credits is dependent on the extent of the international experience.

The course introduces students to the basic concepts of identity, human lifecourse and developmental processes from educational, psychological and sociological points of view.
The course contains an introduction lecture after which students will study the topic independently in reading groups. Instructions for reading groups will be given at the lecture.

Content: The course focuses on innovation studies and puts emphasis on knowledge and skills in economic development and innovations. During the course the various aspects of education in the society will be studied as well as the different modes of knowledge intensive functions in today's economies and innovation systems will be analysed.

Content: Organizational behaviour in educational setting provides understanding about the human behavioural aspect in an organizational setting. This course provides knowledge of social phenomena about human relation in an organization. This course emphasis students to gain deeper understanding about ethical behaviour in an organization from the prospect of individual level, the group level and the structural level. During the course, relevant theories related to organizational behaviour will be discussed.

The aim of this course is to introduce the implication of leadership and management in schools. This course will provide students in understanding the practices of leadership and management reflected to the research based study that allows the students to understand leadership in perspective to multi dimensional practice. In this course, some leadership styles and practices that were evolved from the empirical study will be discussed.

Total credits of the subject and the order of the registration - for Finnish students and international degree students. Once formed, the groups will make their own schedules.
REGISTRATION: Registration forms are available from the SAC. They should be completed and handed in at the beginning of the period. More groups can be added at the beginning of the next period. Participants will be informed by email when the groups have been formed.
For international students priority is given to degree students and those enrolled also in Advanced Course 1 in Finnish. Multicultural Education and Training -course as part of Multicultural Study Programme in Education: The objective of the course is to give a general idea of how education can be used to promote the development of genuine multi-cultural and pluralistic society. .
The course analyses the foundations, aims and central concepts of multicultural education and the challenges in working life and school context entailed by growing internationalism and cultural diversity.

Content: The course focuses on increasing self-awareness related to worldviews and beliefs about diversity issues. The course covers different diversity issues derived from theories, researches, and everyday life experiences. There will be a learning environment that is conducive for students to express their informed opinions on the different topics that will be discussed.
Learning outcomes:
On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- recognize differences and identify the value of diversity
- develop multicultural sensitivity
- gain and develop skills in recognizing diverse viewpoints and worldviews
- analyze different skills to live and work in a diverse society
