Common feature of all three TAMK persons of the year 2022 is a genuine desire to act for the good of the community
The TAMK person of the year awards were published at the graduation ceremony on Monday 19 December 2022. The juries got several good proposals in each category, but eventually, the final choices were unanimous. The diplomas were donated by President Tapio Kujala and the chair of students’ union Tamko, Joonas Soukkio.
The student of the year: Petri Salminen is a physiotherapy student in his third year. He is described as an active and contributive student whose own actions enhance a positive atmosphere in the studying environment. Salminen is the chair of physiotherapy students’ club Biceps and wants to activate the interaction between students and staff at TAMK. During the past year, Salminen has also been a student tutor for the Kenyan physiotherapy students.
The teacher of the year: Hannu Tuhkanen. Senior Lecturer, Social Services and Health Care. Tuhkanen has supported students as well as built their trust with his strong competence and excellent ability to listen to the students and their wishes. He has arranged extra practices and classes and been available for the students. He has got a lot of positive feedback of his work.
The staff member of the year: Mirja Onduso, Planning Officer, in charge of the social counselling for international students. With her dedication, Onduso has helped students with their arrival in Finland and settling in. She always works with a big heart, putting the students’ needs first. Apart from her key tasks she takes extra steps to help the international students in their everyday life.
As a reward, the TAMK persons of the year receive 1000 euros each and the warmest congratulations from the whole TAMK community.
