Why Go on Exchange?

Note: Tampere University supports students going on exchange with a travel grant! The amount of the travel grant varies depending on the destination. When going on exchange, you can also apply for additional travel grants if needed, such as grants for students with families or accessibility grants. Why Choose a Destination Outside Europe?
Studying in a destination outside Europe offers students completely new experiences and perspectives. In North America, you can study at high-quality and prestigious universities surrounded by an active student community. North Americans are known for being social, making it easy to meet new people and improve your small talk skills! Latin America enchants with its vibrant culture and friendly people. In Latin America, you have a unique opportunity to learn to speak Spanish or Portuguese, which are widely spoken languages globally. Africa offers a unique opportunity to explore its diverse cultures and stunning natural landscapes. During your exchange, you can also learn about the world’s largest free trade area currently emerging in Africa! Asia is a fascinating blend of traditions and modern technology. Note: If you are more interested in European destinations, please be patient! The main application period for student exchange to European destinations for the academic year 2025-26 will take place in the winter application round from January 15th to February 5th, 2025. In addition to European destinations, the winter application round includes north2north program exchange programme (North America, Nordic countries, Europe, etc.) and Erasmus+ internship grants for traineeships in spring and summer 2025.
