Police University College joins to create more cross-institutional study opportunities for Tampere’s HEIs
From the academic year of 2021–2022, students from the Police University College (Polamk) will be able to apply for studies offered at the Tampere Universities community, which comprises Tampere University (TAU) and Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK). Students at Tampere Universities can also apply to some courses taught at Polamk.
Cross-institutional study is already possible at Tampere Universities. TAMK’s students can complete university-level studies and TAU’s students UAS-level studies. Next autumn, Polamk will also join the cross-institutional study service, which increases students’ possibilities to include a wide range of optional studies in their degree. Polamk will also join the digital Campusonline portal, which brings together online study opportunities from all Finnish universities of applied sciences.
Polamk will continue to offer Tampere Universities’ students the same courses as to its Erasmus exchange students. The international courses will focus on current policing research and Finnish policing. Polamk is also developing a virtual course on policing for the Campusonline portal.
Police students can add to their professional skills by studying such subjects as psychology, administrative sciences, social and health sciences, and languages.
Cross-institutional studies are open to all current degree students, exchange students and teacher training students at TAU and TAMK. The studies are offered for one academic year at a time. The next round of applications will begin on 1 August 2021.
