The university's facilities programme is progressing on three campuses
In the years 2022–2025, the development of facilities on the central campus will focus on the Pinni B building and the Linna building, which will remain in use by the university. During the years 2026–2030, facilities will be developed especially in the Main Building, where learning environments and multi-purpose spaces will increase. By 2025, the university will give up the Pinni A building and later the Virta building.
During the years 2022–2025, Tietotalo will be developed on the Hervanta campus. Development of the facilities and their use is also being carried out in Rakennustalo. The Sähkötalo renovation and new construction project will be implemented in 2021–2027. Functions on different locations of the Hervanta campus will be brought together in the renovated Sähkötalo, and experimental research environments will be developed. The university will partially give up Festia by 2025, and partially Konetalo by 2030, and will develop the remaining facilities. In the years 2026–2030, working-, learning- and meeting spaces will also be further developed at various locations on the Hervanta campus
On the Kauppi campus, the goal is to partially give up the Arvo 1 building by 2025 and develop facilities and their use in the remaining part of the Arvo 1 building and in the Arvo 2 building.
In addition to the changes in the facilities, the university is developing its ways of using space, joint use of spaces and digital solutions to support use of the facilities and smooth everyday life at the campus.
In the ongoing projects of the facilities programme for the years 2022–2025, the first stages of the design process of the sites are underway. These projects are implemented in cooperation with the Universities Properties of Finland Ltd.
The phases and measures of the Facilities programme for the years 2022–2025 and 2026–2030 form an interconnected entity
Measures decided by the Tampere University Foundation in different years and stages, such as the development of facilities, construction, giving up buildings or transfers of university functions, affect each other and this is considered when planning the whole.
Tampere Universities is also present in various environments outside the campuses that support societal interaction and are connected to the activities, research and development activities of the university's faculties, such as Hiedanranta in Jukola and Nokia Areena in Paidia. Operating these facilities is part of Tampere Universities' and faculties' operations, and they have no effect on the facilities programme for the university's campuses.
The facilities programme is carried out together in diverse ways, forums and in groups. About 260 members of the university community are currently actively involved in the facilities programme.
