Sisu instructions: Study calendar

Sisu’s study calendar supports planning your studies. With its features, you can create your schedule and view the calendar in weekly and monthly views.

The study calendar is connected to your study plan and the choices you’ve made on the timeline and registration pages. The calendar displays information and teaching related to the courses you’ve selected in the most recently edited study plan. You can change the study plan you’re viewing from the right side of the calendar view by selecting ‘Teaching not selected’.

In the Study Calendar the menu on the right side of the view has been divided into three sections.

  • The tab "Teaching not selected" allows you to choose which study plan you are viewing and want to schedule.
  • In the "Registration" tab you can view detailed teaching information and choose, for example, necessary practice groups.
  • Finished and discontinued tab lists the rest of the courses.

Other functions in the calendar view allow you to change the viewed time, switch between weekly and monthly views, hide canceled events, add your own notes, and subscribe to the calendar feed.

By clicking on an event box in the calendar, you can open a dialog that contains information about the specific teaching event. Through the dialog, you can also access the information sheet for that course.

Teaching groups and times shown by the calendar

You can choose which teaching groups and times are displayed in the calendar. Some events are displayed directly in the calendar.

  • The calendar shows all the teaching groups in which you have been admitted.
  • If your enrolment is not confirmed or you have not enrolled yet, go to the side panel of the Study calendar tab to choose which teaching groups are shown in the calendar. This selection is made using the ‘Show events in the calendar’ option.
  • If you do not need to select any teaching groups (meaning that they are common to all the participants), they will be shown in the calendar by default.
    • For other learning events, check the ‘Show events in the calendar’ option when you wish to be included in the groups in question. This enables comparing group schedules and reacting to any overlaps even before enrolment.

Removing unnecessary events from the Sisu calendar

If you select more than one group in your calendar when planning your studies (eg primary and secondary group choices), they will all remain in the calendar even after enrolment in only one of the groups has been confirmed.

Do the following to prevent unnecessary events appearing in the Sisu calendar:

  • If you are not admitted to a learning event or drop out, you should remove the event from your calendar completely or at least remove the tick for the ‘Show events in the calendar’ option in the enrolments.
    • If a learning event is ongoing or upcoming and your enrolment has been rejected, you can see this in the ‘Enrolment’ tab by filtering with ‘Rejected enrolments’. Discontinued learning events can be found via the ‘Finished and discontinued’ tab.
  • If you were not admitted to all the groups you wished to enrol in, remove these learning events from your Sisu calendar by removing the tick from the ‘Show events in the calendar’ box.

If you have placed other teaching groups than those that suit your schedule in the calendar, it is worth your while to remove them from the calendar.

Exporting calendar information to another calendar

Information in the study calendar can be transferred from Sisu to another calendar by clicking "export into external calendar" and entering the given address, for example, to Office 365. The study calendar does not update in real time when viewed in other applications. The update interval varies from service to another according to the schedule defined by the application or service. For instance the Office365-service of the University uses an update interval of three hours.
