Tampere University celebrates more than 2,500 graduates during spring semester
In 2024, Tampere University will have awarded 1,197 bachelor’s degrees, 1,242 master’s degrees and 98 doctoral degrees by 12 June. These numbers are provisional as additional degrees are still expected to be recorded.
In our dynamic and evolving world, the value of education has never been greater. We need individuals who are competent and have the willingness and the fortitude to pose difficult questions and address the challenges facing our global community. The anticipated future demand for skilled professionals will be a focal point in the addresses given by the University’s leadership.
“With the world changing rapidly, universities cannot provide students with all the knowledge and skills they will need for the rest of their lives. The key is to have the ability and the curiosity to keep learning and to analyse and understand complex phenomena,” says President Keijo Hämäläinen.
“The number of international master’s students graduating from Tampere University is on the rise. I hope as many of them as possible opt to stay in Finland after graduation, because their expertise is invaluable to our nation,” says Vice President Marja Sutela.
Networks and support from the community are important
At the June graduation ceremony, speeches will also be delivered by Topi Niemi, who graduated with the degree of Master of Science in Technology, and Sanni Tyynismaa, who earned the Master of Administrative Sciences degree from the Faculty of Management and Business.
“On our graduation day, we celebrate not only our successes but also the moments of failure that taught us valuable lessons and propelled us forward. Today is a day to acknowledge the hard work that brought us here,” Tyynismaa says.
Sanni Tyynismaa encourages her fellow graduates to embrace life’s challenges and seek solace and strength from their friendships and networks.
“When I started my studies, I was often told that it is important to build a professional network whilst at university. It sounded like a tired platitude but quickly proved to be true. The support from the community has been indispensable.”
