QS ranking places Tampere University among the top 500 universities in the world

The global QS World University Rankings 2025 places Tampere University in the top third of the world’s universities. In the individual indicators, the University gained the best score for its international research network.

This year, the QS ranking included 1,503 universities and higher education institutions across the world. Tampere University’s exact placing was the 462nd. The ranking included 9 Finnish universities among which Tampere University came in the sixth place.

The universities were assessed based on sustainability, employment outcomes and international research networks (IRN).

The indicators also included academic reputation, alums’ reputation among employers and the faculty-student ratio. The comparison also measures citation indexes and internationality. 

As regards the individual indicators, Tampere University received its best scores for international research networks, where its position improved by 24 places and is now the 251st.

Again, the highest-ranking university in the world was the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US followed by Imperial College London and the University of Oxford in the UK.
